QUESTIONS ABOUT CONTENT OF TRAINING COURSES
I want to learn more about Lean. Where do I start?
Lean is a way of thinking and working that originated in the automotive industry, but after all these years it has taken on a life of its own and is currently applicable in every sector. Manufacturing, the service sector and certainly also the healthcare sector. Every company, large or small, including every self-employed person, must focus more and more on working in a structured way in order to keep the turnaround time of a product, a file or a patient as short as possible, while at the same time using resources efficiently and sparingly. The principles of Lean can be applied everywhere and are very successful in every sector. We would like to be a listening ear and go through the training courses with you that can be a direct added value for your company. We offer both short-term and long-term training courses as well as a special program for SMEs. For this group, we also offer a part of in-house coaching linked to the theory. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information. We will be happy to help you.
I want to delve into a sub-area of Lean.
Then take a look at our range of short-term training courses. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Other providers offer training for less money and less time, are they similar?
We frequently get inquiries about other companies providing Green Belt or Black Belt training in fewer days and at a lower cost. There has been considerable inflation in the market regarding what is included under these titles. For instance, our Green Belt covers significant more content than most other Black Belt or Lean Master programs. Nevertheless, our goal remains to offer students the finest quality education available that allows them to drive meaningful changes in their own settings. We invite anyone eager to genuinely understand Lean and enhance their skills to successfully engage in transformative initiatives.
I have followed the Green Belt in Lean and want to delve even further into Lean. Which training courses are eligible?
If you have completed the Green Belt in Lean with us, the Black Belt in Lean training is a logical next step for deepening and broadening. If you want to focus more on the cultural, organizational or management aspects of Lean, then the Lean Champion program is ideal. You can also opt for specific tools such as Hoshin Kanri, advanced value stream design techniques, or Six Sigma tools. Here you will find an overview of our current offer.
What is the difference between Green Belt in Lean, Black Belt in Lean and Lean Champion?
The Green Belt in Lean is the 8-day basic training, in which basic principles and techniques, both in production and office/services, are discussed. The training is intended for people who want to start and supervise improvement processes.
The Black Belt in Lean goes much broader and deeper into the various topics and application areas. This training lasts 24 days and consists of 4 modules. It examines both the basics, but also the most complex problems. This is therefore a training for the person who will manage the Green Belts in Lean and who want to master the Lean culture in all depth. The ideal training for the person in charge of an improvement organization. The Black Belt in Lean coach is able to develop and support a company-wide approach, both in operational/production environments and in support services.
The Lean Champion is the ideal training for the manager who wants to roll out Lean as a strategy within the organization. They follow the Green Belt in Lean module to master the basics of Lean. This is followed by a module that deals with the creation of the Lean organization. Attention is paid to managements and lean leadership techniques, as well as the cultural and change aspects.
Can I be admitted to the Black Belt in Lean course without a Green Belt in Lean diploma?
You can start the Black Belt in Lean training at Van Goubergen P&M if you have successfully completed the Green Belt in Lean training with us. This means that you have achieved at least 60% on the theoretical Green Belt in Lean exam.
If you have obtained the Green Belt in Lean training at another training institute, it is necessary to first take the Green Belt in Lean theory exam with us. Our training is the broadest and most in-depth Lean training in Belgium and the Netherlands. We have already found that other Green Belt in Lean programs often have a more limited or less in-depth content. The theory test ensures that you are sure that you have the necessary prior knowledge to start the Black Belt in Lean modules without knowledge gaps and to join the group. You can purchase our training material for this, so that you can study in advance.
We can also advise in advance, in consultation, to follow an adapted reduced Green Belt in Lean program if there are important substantive differences with the program of the other training institute. Please contact us in good time (preferably before the start of our Green Belt in Lean training). We will then work out a proposal with an adjusted registration fee.
Will I receive a diploma or certificate if I follow a training course with you?
For the Green Belt in Lean, Black Belt in Lean and Lean Champion courses, you will receive an official certificate of competence if you have passed the respective theory and practical tests. For the other training courses, a certificate of attendance will be issued.
Which training is right for me?
Do you want to understand and apply the basic Lean principles? Do you want to supervise a Lean improvement initiative? Then you choose the Green Belt in Lean. You have mastered the basics of Lean and you want to follow a follow-up course at a very high level? Do you want to effectively implement the Lean principles throughout your organization? Then choose the Black Belt in Lean. Are you an HR manager or business leader and do you want to know the basics of Lean, but also understand and implement the Lean culture in your organization? Then choose Lean Champion.
What is Six Sigma?
Six Sigma State is an improvement approach that grew out of the pursuit of high quality (especially at GE and Motorola). The aim is to achieve an extremely low margin of error or quality failure by reducing variation in the output of processes. It is a strong data-driven approach that uses a wide range of statistical analysis techniques, according to a strict step-by-step plan (DMAIC – Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), to achieve this goal. The key question here is: which ‘knobs’ do I need to turn to get a more consistent output in a process step?
What is the difference between Lean, Six Sigma and Operational Excellence?
Lean is more comprehensive as an improvement strategy than Six Sigma, as the focus is on improving ‘horizontal’ value streams consisting of multiple process steps across departments. All this should result in a better ‘flow’ of value to the customer (the best quality at the lowest cost in the shortest lead time). Rather, Six Sigma is aimed at reducing variation and thus improving the quality of process steps. Value stream thinking is not present in this approach. However, Six Sigma can perfectly complement/support Lean. If it turns out that the waste in a value stream is caused by uncontrolled variation, then Six Sigma techniques can reduce this variation and thus the waste. We are therefore not in favour of the name Lean Six Sigma.
Operational Excellence is a state in which an organization is “excellently” organized to meet all (changing) customer requirements, resulting in good financial results for the shareholders and with a satisfied, motivated, skilled team of employees in excellent working conditions.
Lean as a business strategy is extremely suitable to bring an organization to this state.
